All:
I am “martin.musculus”-es’ son. I am posting here, using his account to keep anyone interested updated about his condition.
Initial state
As Dad explained it to me over a week ago at a family cookout, he set up this blog in anticipation of explaining his views and understandings of Our Founding Fathers, The Constitution, the Principles of Conservatism/Constitutionalism, and the Book of Mormon. Also to comment on what he’s witnessed during his long life in general. Unfortunately, his life being as busy as it is, he hadn’t had the time necessary to do more beyond simple set-up. Reading the notes in his desk, it seems he also had concerns about moving long blog entries and any comments from readers. He was investigating private hosting solutions, and thought it might be difficult to move the posts and comments from this free space on WordPress to a paid-for location.
I am using this post to ask a favor of his online friends and acquaintances while attempting to answer the inevitable curiosity that arises in these situations.
Background:
Recently my Dad asked us all to pray for a successful surgical outcome for a woman who had a heart attack, who’s husband posts on Mrs. Michelle Malkin’s blog. I don’t blog, as do my younger Sib’s, but I am told this is fairly common practice. When asked all of us were happy to pray for her. Those of us with families were also asked to explain the request during our individual Family Councils and ask that all members of our family participate.
I know Dad has a lot of friends online. When our family stays in his house, often after midnight I’ll hear Dad downstairs reclined in his chair with his Palm in his hand, chortling about a particular post. When I’ve asked what kept him from bed, he’d tell me a man’s late 80’s are too old to start another degree: he’d probably perforce leave it unfinished. Arguing politics with young fast minds is a great substitute, keeping his own mind quick and lively.
My step-Mon, Step-Sib’s, my sisters, brothers and I value the vast enjoyment he receives by way of the discussions and arguments he has at the blogs he frequents. When not involved in activities he loves, (hunting and fishing in season, shooting, cooking, writing software, teaching, doting on his family)(oh, and in his spare time since 1951, he’s been working on a proof for the “Riemann Hypothesis”); Dad spends a lot of time reading blogs, especially Mrs.Malkin’s (michellemalkin.com) and SayAnythingBlog.com.
Because of his great affection for his online friends (and philosophical opponents), we are comfortable requesting those who would: please pray a prayer for his speedy recovery.
Presently:
On Saturday, 21June @ 2215h, Dad was hospitalized with a stroke and coma caused by cerebral hemorrhaging. The surgery to fix the bleeds went well, and we’re told that the length of time a coma lasts varies from person to person. This is entering the fifth day he has been comatose with no change.
He has received a Blessing by Elders of our Church, which is the procedure in these cases. After a Family Council, we’ve decided to request Prayers of Recovery by his friends. I was elected to post to this blog until he can make his wishes known to us.
I know that when he returns home he’ll treasure your saying “hello”, or any kind words you might leave. I’ll drop in to post updates from time to time, and to answer what few questions there may be.
Thank you.

Mouse! Just got from back Kunsan and found out about your illness!
House Mouse, Dana & the kids, and my best wishes are with you!
Mike, let us know if your family needs anything we can got.
I know you’re a newbie. If you talk to Cassie, she’ll tell you that only a small number of people who visit a blog actually leave comments. Knowing Martin, you have a lot more “eyeballs” stopping here than you think! Play around with WordPress, I’m sure there’s a way to get the stats. You’ll see what I mean…
SO PLEASE post updates! I won’t call because I’m sure you guys have enough to worry about, but post those updates! I know how you Craftsmen are, but each entry doesn’t have to be a literary masterpiece! Just a line or two to keep us in the loop will do fine!
Your father has touched many more lives than you know, (key the last scene from “Its a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stuart here as the backdrop
).
Really! I don’t talk about it, but he’s set a lot of people straight, being one I know. If not for him, I’d probably be a third-striker of the productive family man I am.

Seriously! Anything you need, we got, ask… Repeat as necessary
Got to go!
BTW, Ack! Lost your address (email & snailmail).
Did you get the two cases I sent? They are handmade. By Korean Artisens!
The piece of paper inside with your contact info was my only copy of your addresses…
And: yes. I feel dumb. I really do.
