Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! (both belated)
When things go bad, they usually go very bad. An ongoing emergency at work, (and new very strict Internet access limitations) has delayed posting the update on Dad’s status as promised. Also, I haven’t been able to contact home since I spoke with Step Mom and The Wife on the phone, when they called with the 1st news about Dad awakening. The orginal phone call was less than 5 minutes, and it was almost immediately after Dad woke up, before any exam. The other news about his condition I have is cloudy, since I’ve been unable to speak to anyone there. Apparently he is eating well, though he’s lost a lot of weight, and there are some difficulties… but what they are, in the way of limitations or his mental functions – well, I simply don’t have anything solid. I do know that he recognizes those around him, but beyond that I don’t have anything. Being stuck here is exceeding frustrating. For the 1st time in my life, I’ve wish I was somewhere other than where I am. If all goes well, I have only 2 more months on TDY and then I return to finish my separation.
If nothing else breaks here, soon I will go to a kiosk and do the update. I’ll try to get a call through and get more information.
